"Thank You, Mr. Adamson"

Pete Hale

Who was this Superintendent of the “ Bonny Oaks School?

He always had a white shirt and a tie…..very suspicious

You do not want to be summoned to his office…..it is usually bad….

He paid money for rat tails….

He had the loudest unexpected sneezes….scared me every time….

He typed very fast with one finger…..

He would drive backward really fast….without running into the ditches….

He always asked me about my grades…..ask me next semester..Not now

He had the most wonderful wife with the greatest smile….named George

He was always there when I messed up….

He once protected me from an overzealous house parent…..

Then he spanked me for my offense….

He insisted that I Work…Go to Church…Follow the Rules….Be a Good Person..

He helped me get a job…..

He helped me go to college…

He wrote me letters in the Army….

He wanted to see my family for the last 40 years….

I arrived at Bonny Oaks in 1961, an 11 year old 6th grader…..I had never met my father….

I have always felt Mr. Adamson wanted the best for me….He wanted me to be the best person I could be…..He wanted me to have a personal relationship with Jesus….He was disappointed in me several times….but he always encouraged me and kept pointing me in the right direction….For almost 50 years he has shown that he cares about me and my family…..

I have always thought of him…. like a Father….
